South America, Latin America, general
One main reason South American countries is neglected in European media is that they vote for presidents and have more clear alternatives at elections.

This text will help readers understand that Latin America is more than a “traditional society,” composed of the descendants of the Conquistadors and Native Americans. This book demonstrates the crucial impact of the mass migrations of the late nineteenth and early twentieth c

Presidents are white men and often get well along together. Not many wars, did not take part in WW2. A traditional world that global news media tries to destroy. Therefore it is covered up by the news media.
Why did few wars happen in South America?
Jews collaborate with nazis (see Ukraine) like they do with muslims to create conflicts that can be a motive for spread of their conflicts. After WW2 both Jews and Nazis went to South America to continue global take over.
Still national pride in soccer, f.ex.
Feminism is very central to the global dicatatorship. In order to throw countries into internal conflicts, women must be turned on men. This seems to have been difficult in South America. Traditional families are common. Therefore the news media networks have isolated South America and put it in media backwaters. Another way of isolating it is the sperad of violence and criminalty. It is common but also enhanced in news media in order to keep outsiders away.
Catholic. Warm hearted.
Comparatively low population density, comparable to US, lower than Europe and Asia.
Climate summit COP 25 was to be held in Chile. Greta Thunberg was set to make an alomst “impossible” zero-CO2-emmitting trip from the US to Chile. Due to some unrest in Chile the meeting was moved to Spain, Europe. The climate agenda is not strong in Latin America. The climate agenda is one way EUrope is attacked.
Presidents are at least giving an image of being more competent than western leaders like Biden, Harris, Swedish PMs.
Continued from here
Globalist media cover up Latin America because the political system puts people closer to the power. The people elects a president with extensive authority.
British system is closer to this since voters know the candidate better than with pr-lists that are used in e.g. Sweden.
Pr-lists rob people of influence since parties make up the lists and voters often don’t know the candidates.
Worst system is in the European Union. Voters elect candidates chosen by the party. The president was elected in closed conference, approved in secret vote, some say after influencing MEP:s.

Was/is the South American “pink tide” true left that helped the people or were the presidents just Neo-liberals in disguise, like the left in Europe and the US-Democrats?
Rodrigo Ferreira Nuñez wrote:
Neoliberals were part of the 90s wave of South American politics no the 2000s as the South American ‘Pink Tide’ did. This so called ’Pink Tide’ happened spontaneously independently all over South America in the early 2000s precisely in opossition to these.
They were however, not even remotely a unified phenomenom, but instead a blunt eruption of counter proposals in direct response to the devastating economic missmanagements of the aforementioned Neoliberal governments that happened all at the tail end of the previous decade.
So these countermovements developed from different needs, by different cultures, and wtih different objectives in both the short and long terms, were completely unrelated to eachother and they were all over the place.
IE while Brazil had Labourism, Argentina had Left Wing Populism, Chile had Demoratic Liberalism, Venezuela had Chavism, Uruguay had Social Democracy, Bolivia had Collectivism, etc.
Eventually many of these governments somehow alligned together to the international influence of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, but this wasn’t until the end of the first tenure in office of most of these governments when they were all pretty much established in their countries and a swarm of reelections were overwhelmingly expected to take place in the region, again independently from eachother. It was then and only then that UNASUR was created.
So no, they were not Neoliberals but I wouldn’t call it ‘‘True Left’’ as there is no such thing but rather a spectrum of movements that sprout in oposition to Neoliberalis nor was the pink tide a coordinate unified movement because of this initially
Colombia
News media agenda usually supports violence, shootings and drugs, but somewhat unexpectedly gives a bad picture of Colombian drug lords. The Mexican drug cartels are forgotten in media but the Colombian are criticized.
It seems to be due to medias support for Nobel Prize winner Santos and leniency towards drug lords (not popular among people). Now when Duque is president the media gives a picture of excalated violence against civilians.
‘It’s total terror’: Colombian cartel retaliates over kingpin’s arrest
South America is traditional, feminism less strong, support for countries is strong, leaders are strong, Catholicism is strong. Therefore news media are putting a blanket over South America. But Colombian drug violence is sometimes highlighted.
It seems Colombia is smeared since it was never a strong participant in the “pink tide”.
Presidents:
2018- Iván Duque (Márquez) (from Antioquia)
Backed by Uribe, hard liner on drug cartels,
welcomed refugeez from Venezuela, like Santos
Close to US, supported Trump
cutting the budget of the Truth Commission and the Unit for the Search for Disappeared Persons by 30%. The government also promotes generals involved in extrajudicial executions
2010-18 Juan Manuel Santos
The 2016 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos “for his resolute efforts to bring the country’s more than 50-year-long civil war to an end,
Notable other nominees included the “White Helmets” of the Syrian Conflict[8] (who received several editorial endorsements from western newspapers[9][10][11]); representative “Greek islanders”, particularly those from Lesbos, for their response to the related refugee crisis;[12] Nadia Murad for her work in refugee advocacy; and Congolese gynaecologist Denis Mukwege for work with victims of rape.[13][14]
Six other Colombians, five of them victims of the Colombian armed conflict, had also been nominated.[18][19]
The scandal broke in 2008 with the identification of 19 young people whose disappearances had been reported by their families in Soacha (a suburb of Bogotá), whom the army presented as slain guerrillas.
Both houses of Congress ratified the revised peace accord on 29–30 November 2016, marking an end to the conflict. The treaty brought deep divisions and polarization in the country, which questions its legitimacy.[11] Santos has been named as one of Time’s 100 most influential people.[12] Santos left office with one of the lowest levels of popular approval ever,[13][14] and his successor was Uribe’s new protégé, Iván Duque, a moderate critic of Santos’ peace treaty with the FARC guerilla.[15]
2002-10 Álvaro Uribe (Antioquia)
Uribe led an all-out military offensive against leftist guerrilla groups such as the FARC and the ELN with funding and backing from the Clinton and Bush

In 2003 Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was inaugurated. He was reelected in 2006. In 2011 Dilma Rousseff became Brazil’s first woman president. In 2015 she began her second term, but in 2016 the Senate of Brazil convicted her on impeachment charges, and she was removed from office, being succeeded by Michel Temer. In 2018 Jair Bolsonaro was elected, taking office on 1 January 2019.
Bolsonaro hated by the media like Trump
During his time in office, Lula introduced sweeping social programs including Bolsa Família and Fome Zero, aimed at combating poverty and lifting the station of the country’s working class. As president, Lula played a prominent role in international matters including activities related to the nuclear program of Iran and climate change, being described as “a man with audacious ambitions to alter the balance of power among nations”.[7]

Brazilian police say they have found personal items belonging to missing UK journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira.
The items include Mr Phillips’ boots and a backpack with clothes in, as well as Mr Pereira’s health ID card, a flip-flop, black trousers and boots.
The pair went missing while travelling by boat on a reporting trip in a remote Amazon rainforest on 5 June.
Mr Phillips’ wife and mother-in-law say they now presume the two men are dead.

Bl.a Tesla och Apple får råvaror därifrån. Men hanteringen omgärdas av tveksamheter. Krig råder i landet, barnarbete förekommer. FN skyddar verksamheten.

At a press briefing late on Wednesday, regional police chief Eduardo Fontes said one of the two men arrested in connection with the pair’s disappearance had confessed to killing them.
“On Tuesday he informed us the location where the bodies were buried and he promised to go with us today to the site so we could confirm where the bodies were buried,” Fontes told reporters.
The announcement brought a sad end to a 10-day search which has horrified the nation and underlined the growing dangers faced by those who dare to defend Brazil’s environment and Indigenous communities, which have faced a historic assault under the country’s far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro.

Protester sker bl.a i huvudstaden.
Indianer utgör ju ursprungsbefolkningen i nordamerika.

Argentina
2019-
president Alberto Fernández
Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner
Donald Trump’s top adviser for the Western Hemisphere, Mauricio Claver-Carone, crossed Fernández in 2019 saying: “We want to know if Alberto Fernández will be a defender of democracy or an apologist for dictatorships and leaders in the region, whether it be Maduro, Correa or Morales.”[60]
2020
On August 4, Fernández reached an accord with the biggest creditors on terms for a restructuring of $65bn in foreign bonds, after a breakthrough in talks that had at times looked close to collapse since the country’s ninth debt default in May.[38]
Fernández was born in Buenos Aires, son of Celia Pérez and her first husband. Separated from the latter, Celia (sister of the personal photographer of Juan Domingo Perón) married Judge Carlos Pelagio Galíndez (son of a Senator of the Radical Civic Union).[5] Alberto Fernández, who barely knew his biological father, considers Pelagio to be his father.[5][6]

Juan Peron
Juan Domingo Perón (UK: /pɛˈrɒn/, US: /pɛˈroʊn, pəˈ-, peɪˈ-/,[1][2][3] Spanish: [ˈxwan doˈmiŋɡo peˈɾon]; 8 October 1895 – 1 July 1974) was an Argentine Army general and politician. After serving in several government positions, including Minister of Labour and Vice President of a military dictatorship, he was elected President of Argentina three times, serving from June 1946 to September 1955, when he was overthrown by the Revolución Libertadora, and then from October 1973 until his death in July 1974.
During his first presidential term (1946–52), Perón was supported by his second wife, Eva Duarte (“Evita”): they were immensely popular among the Argentine working class. Eva died in 1952, and Perón was elected to a second term, serving from 1952 until 1955. During the following period of two military dictatorships, interrupted by two civilian governments, the Peronist party was outlawed and Perón was exiled.
His third wife, María Estela Martínez, known as Isabel Perón, was elected as Vice President on his ticket and succeeded him as President upon his death in 1974.
Although they are still controversial figures, Juan and Eva Perón are nonetheless considered icons by the Peronists. The Peróns’ followers praised their efforts to eliminate poverty and to dignify labour, while their detractors considered them demagogues and dictators. The Peróns gave their name to the political movement known as Peronism, which in present-day Argentina is represented mainly by the Justicialist Party.

Cristina Elisabet Fernández de Kirchner (Spanish pronunciation: [kɾisˈtina eˈlisaβet ferˈnandes ðe ˈkiɾʃneɾ] (listen); born 19 February 1953), often referred to by her initials CFK,[1][2] is an Argentine lawyer and politician who has served as the 37th Vice President of Argentina since 2019. She also served as the President of Argentina from 2007 to 2015 and the first lady during the tenure of her husband, Néstor Kirchner.

Argentina’s economic policies under Nestor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner were hugely impactful in the country’s recovery and general development, yet the Kirchner administrations are often painted with the same broad leftist brush often used to categorize Latin American governments. This kind of blanketed cataloguing obscures the economic nuances of important features of Argentina’s governance like social safety nets, market openness, and property rights

In June 2018, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lent $ 50 billion to Argentina. It later increased the amount to $ 57 billion. This was the IMF’s largest loan in its history, and its 21st to Argentina.

Since independence from Spain in 1816, the country has defaulted on its debt nine times and inflation has often been in the double digits, even as high as 5000%, resulting in several large currency devaluations.
Economic crisis (1998–2002)

The ensuing economic and political crisis was arguably the worst since the country’s independence.[80] By the end of 2002, the economy had contracted by 20% since 1998.[131] Over the course of two years, output fell by more than 15%, the Argentine peso lost three-quarters of its value, and registered unemployment exceeded 25%.[80] Income poverty in Argentina grew from an already high 35.4% in October 2001 to a peak of 54.3% in October 2002.[134]
Critics of the policy of economic liberalization pursued during the Menem Presidency argued that Argentina’s economic woes were caused by neoliberalism, which had been actively promoted by the U.S. government and the IMF under the Washington Consensus.
The Washington Consensus is a set of ten economic policy prescriptions considered to constitute the “standard” reform package promoted for crisis-wracked developing countries by Washington, D.C.-based institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and United States Department of the Treasury.[1] T
In December 2005, Kirchner decided to liquidate the Argentine debt to the IMF in a single payment, without refinancing, for a total of $9.8 billion.[145] The payment was partly financed by Venezuela, who bought Argentine bonds for US$1.6 billion

President of Peru
All former elected presidents of Peru since 1985 have been prosecuted since leaving office:
Francisco Morales Bermudez was sentenced to life in prison by an Italian court in January 2017.[22]
Italy gives Peru dictator life in prison for 1970s murders
Prior to his resignation in 2000, Alberto Fujimori escaped to Japan seeking political refuge, where he faxed his resignation to Peru. He unsuccessfully attempted to run for a parliamentary position in the Parliament of Japan, and ultimately returned to Latin America in 2006 to run for the 2006 presidential elections. The refugee president’s flight diverted to Chile, where he stayed for six days. Peruvian officials and the President of Peru during the time expressed discontent at Chilean officials for allowing the indicted former president into the continent without repercussion. Ultimately, Fujimori flew back to Peru for unstated reasons and was arrested. Fujimori was convicted of corruption, bribery, human rights violations, crimes against humanities, murder, and other charges, for 25 years of prison until 2031. Fujimori served his sentence until 2017, where then Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski issued a presidential pardon, clearing Fujimori of his conviction. Following the resignation of Kuczynski, the pardon was declared illegitimate and Fujimori was arrested and returned to confinement. Presently, Fujimori remains in custody, serving the rest of his 25-year sentence.
Following the end of his term in 2006, Alejandro Toledo abruptly withdrew from Peruvian politics. Toledo and his spouse, Eliane Karp, both moved to California, in the United States, where they have resided since, to avoid prosecution.
Ex-Peruvian president [Toledo] said to flee to Israel
Ollanta Humala and his wife, Nadine Heredia, were abruptly arrested following the end of his term. Both of them were detained for 6 months for investigation on the means of corruption, but were later released. There were no conclusions or evidence provided by the investigation. Humala continues to reside in Lima awaiting his trial.
Following his resignation in March 2018, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski quietly left the Government Palace and returned to his home in the district of San Isidro. Kuczynski remained out of the public eye for the following ten months, but was then summoned to the Department of Justice. All of Kuczynski’s bank accounts were frozen and he was prohibited from leaving the country. Kuczynski made few public appearances, but on the first anniversary of his resignation, Kuczynski made his first major public appearance on El Comercio, a major Peruvian newspaper. The former president mentioned his present financial ruins and the amounts of loans he was forced to make. Additionally, Kuczynski mentioned that he felt betrayed by Martin Vizcarra, the incumbent President of Peru who succeeded Kuczynski following his resignation. On 10 April 2019, Kuczynski was arrested for primary corruption charges on the basis of an ongoing investigation into his connections with Odebrecht, money laundering, and bribery. At the end of his detention, Kuczynski was sentenced to three years of house imprisonment until 2022.
Manuel Merino was president for five days from 10 to 15 November 2020, following the impeachment and removal of Martín Vizcarra by the Peruvian Congress, before stepping down amid widespread protests resulting in casualties. He was inaugurated as president following the line of succession established in the constitution.

Odebrecht scandal
Odebrecht, large construction company, founded by German immigrants.
—-
For years, Latin America’s construction giant, Odebrecht, built some of the region’s most crucial infrastructure projects.
But then it became well-known for another superlative: its involvement in one of the biggest corruption cases in history.
In 2016, the Brazilian-based group signed what has been described as the world’s largest leniency deal with US and Swiss authorities, in which it confessed to corruption and paid $2.6bn (£2.1bn) in fines.
It started out as a small family construction group in the 1940s founded by Brazilians of German origin. It grew quickly and at its peak, around 2010, the company had 181,000 employees across 21 countries.
Its focus is on building large projects, such as Caracas’ metro, a port in Cuba and much of the infrastructure used by Brazil in the 2014 World Cup, including some of the stadiums.
The company is also one of the biggest donors to politicians in Brazil.

The Nicaraguan Revolution (Spanish: Revolución Nicaragüense or Revolución Popular Sandinista) encompassed the rising opposition to the Somoza dictatorship in the 1960s and 1970s, the campaign led by the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) to oust the dictatorship in 1978–79, the subsequent efforts of the FSLN to govern Nicaragua from 1979 to 1990,[26] and the Contra War, which was waged between the FSLN-led government of Nicaragua and the United States–backed Contras from 1981 to 1990. The revolution marked a significant period in the history of Nicaragua and revealed the country as one of the major proxy war battlegrounds of the Cold War,
Somoza, killed in Asuncion when Argentinian communists shot at his car with RPG in the city.
The Contras were the various U.S.-backed and funded right-wing rebel groups that were active from 1979 to 1990 in opposition to the Marxist Sandinista Junta of National Reconstruction Government in Nicaragua which came to power in 1979 following the Nicaraguan Revolution. Among the separate contra groups, the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN) emerged as the largest by far. In 1987, virtually all contra organizations were united, at least nominally, into the Nicaraguan Resistance.
During their war against the Nicaraguan government, the Contras committed numerous human rights violations and used terrorist tactics.[2][3][4][5][6] These actions were frequently carried out systematically as a part of the strategy of the Contras. Supporters of the Contras tried to downplay these violations, particularly the Reagan administration in the US, which engaged in a campaign of white propaganda to alter public opinion in favor of the Contras,[7] while covertly encouraging the Contras to attack civilian targets.[8]
From an early stage, the rebels received financial and military support from the United States government, and their military significance decisively depended on it. After US support was banned by Congress, the Reagan administration covertly continued it. These illegal activities culminated in the Iran–Contra affair.
The Iran–Contra affair (Persian: ماجرای ایران-کنترا, Spanish: Caso Irán–Contra), often referred to as the Iran–Contra scandal, the McFarlane affair (in Iran),[1] or simply Iran–Contra, was a political scandal in the United States that occurred during the second term of the Reagan Administration. Between 1981 and 1986, senior administration officials secretly facilitated the sale of arms to the Khomeini government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was the subject of an arms embargo.[2] The administration hoped to use the proceeds of the arms sale to fund the Contras in Nicaragua.
